Battle Hill Farm Forest Park

With its farm setting, native bush reserve and panoramic views Battle Hill provides a great opportunity to enjoy the open spaces of rural Wellington. The 500 hectares of Battle Hill are a mix of flat, rolling and steeper hill country, making it a haven for walking, horse riding, mountain biking, camping and picnicking.

Please Note: This is a working farm. Dogs are NOT permitted in the park, even if they are left in vehicles.

Getting there

From SH1 Transmission Gully (northbound or southbound):

Exit SH1 onto SH58 heading west via the relevant Pauatahanui off-ramp. At the Pauatahanui roundabout take the second left into Pauatahanui Village. Drive through the village and straight on to Paekakariki Hill Road. Continue for 6 km to reach the main entrance of Battle Hill Farm Forest Park which will be on your right.

From SH59 (Porirua- Paekakariki):

  • If you are south of Paremata, exit SH59 at the Paremata roundabout onto SH58. Follow SH58 heading east around the inlet to the Pauatahanui roundabout. Turn left into Pauatahanui Village. Drive through the village and straight on to Paekakariki Hill Road. Continue for 6 km to reach the main entrance of Battle Hill Farm Forest Park which will be on your right.
  • If you are north of Plimmerton, exit SH59 onto Grays Road and drive to the end around the inlet. Turn left onto Paekakariki Hill Road. Drive 6 km to reach the main entrance of Battle Hill Farm Forest Park which will be on your right.

Please note: The Kapiti end of Paekakariki Hill Road beyond Battle Hill is not suitable for heavy vehicles.
